What is KB-1?
KB-1 is an agent-ready knowledge base for notes, documents, people, and the software agents that work with them. It is designed around a durable vault engine and a Cloud login layer that makes the full team experience possible.
The short version
Section titled “The short version”KB-1 gives you:
- A vault engine that owns notes, files, APIs, and editor state.
- A Cloud login surface for accounts, organizations, identity, agent access, presence, and routing.
- A choice of where the vault engine runs: local-only, self-hosted with Cloud login, or KB-1 Hosted.
The important distinction is that KB-1 Cloud is not always the vault home. Cloud is the front door for the full team experience. The vault can still live on your machine.
Who it is for
Section titled “Who it is for”KB-1 is for people and teams who want their knowledge base to be useful to both humans and agents. It is especially relevant if you care about:
- Keeping a readable vault of notes and files.
- Giving agents a stable workspace instead of one-off chat context.
- Choosing between custody and convenience without changing the product model.
